Are you ready to go from a Lofter Novice to a demo-setting Rainmaker? This guide will walk you through setting up your SalesLoft account and creating and running your very first cadence in only eight simple steps!

Download the SalesLoft Chrome Extension

To download the SalesLoft Chrome Extension, click here. Once downloaded, the extension will work in the background, so don't be alarmed when you don't see it in your Chrome toolbar!

The SalesLoft Chrome Extension allows you to:

  • Import directly from Salesforce
  • Click-to-call in Salesforce
  • Set reminders in GMail
  • Track one-off emails sent from GMail
  • Get live notifications when someone opens or clicks a link in an email

Connect Your Email

To begin sending genuine one-to-one emails using SalesLoft, simply connect your email. Head to Settings in the dropdown under your name and then to Email

Add Your Email Signature

Add the email signature that will be included in each of your emails sent from the SalesLoft platform. Be sure to add an email signature to your SalesLoft account even if you have one saved in your email client.

 Connect SalesLoft with Your Salesforce

Before you can take advantage of SalesLoft's Salesforce integration, you must connect your Salesforce account to your SalesLoft account

After clicking on Link to Salesforce, the status of your connection will change:

 Set-Up the In-App Dialer

SalesLoft's in-app dialer allows you to click-to-dial seamlessly while running call steps and quickly make one-off calls. You can also pre-record voicemails for efficiency and record your calls for effective training.

Enable SalesLoft Dialer as an Admin: 

First, agree to the Terms of Service provided on the Billing Authorization prompt. 

From the same page, you can then provision and assign numbers to anyone on your team.

Create Your First Email Template

Email templates make it very easy to create email cadence steps. Once your templates are created, you can use them on any cadence and to send one-off emails.

Create Your First Cadence

Creating your first cadence, or repeatable outreach process, is the first step to setting more qualified demos. 

First, let's get our cadence set up.

  • Step 1: Navigate to the Cadences tab from the top toolbar.
  • Step 2: Click the green Add button to create a new cadence.
  • Step 3: Lay out foundational settings for your new cadence:
    • Name: Give your cadence a name to remind you who you're reaching out to and how frequently
    • Daily People Target: Set a target for how many people you want to add to this cadence everyday. 
    • Check the boxes to have people be automatically removed from this cadence if they reply to an email or if their email bounces
    • Check the opt-out box to include an opt-out link in each email sent from this cadence
    • Set your stages to have your prospect's stage in your sales cycle automatically update as they move through your cadence
  • Step 4: Save your cadence. 

Now, we're ready to build our repeatable outreach process by adding steps to our cadence. Once your cadence is created, you'll be taken to the cadence overview page.

  • Step 1: Click the green Add a Step button in the right-hand corner to add a new step to your cadence.
  • Step 2: Select your step type to build at your first cadence step:
    • Email: An email step is an email touch in your cadence. To create an email step, first click "Email." Then select the day the email should be sent and the email template you want to use.
    • Phone: A phone step is a call touch in your cadence. To create a call step, select "Phone." Then select the day you want to make this call, give your step a name, and include instructions, such as the script you want to use.
    • Other: An other step is whatever you make it! This is a great way to include social touches. To create an other step, select "Other." Then, select the day you want to run your other step, name your step, and leave instructions.
  • Step 3: Once you've created your first step, select Add & Create Another to continue building out your cadence.

Import People & Add Them to a Cadence 

There are three methods for importing people into SalesLoft. Once imported, you can instantly add people to a cadence and hit the ground running!

Method 1: Manually Add a Person

  • Step 1: Navigate to the "People" tab and select the green "Add" button. Then select "Enter a Prospect Manually."
  • Step 2: Enter the name and email address of the prospect and select "Add Person."
  • Step 3: Navigate the People tab, select the checkbox next to your new prospect and add them to your cadence.

Method 2: Upload a .CSV

  • Step 1:Navigate to the "People" tab and select the green "Add" button. Select "CSV Spreadsheet," then select "Choose a .CSV File" to find your .CSV file.
  • Step 2: Set your field mapping to ensure your prospects' information saves to the appropriate SalesLoft fields and select "Next."
  • Step 3: Select "Finish and Add to a Cadence" and add your prospects to your newly created cadence.

Method 3: Import from Salesforce

  • Step 1: First, make sure you have downloaded the SalesLoft Chrome Extension.
  • Step 2: Open your Salesforce and navigate to the lead, contact, listview of leads or contacts or the campaign you want to import. Select the blue Import into Cadence button.
  • Step 3: Select "Finish and Add to a Cadence" and add your prospects to your newly created cadence.

Run Your Cadence Steps

Now you're ready to begin your repeatable outreach process by running your three cadence steps!
