Using A/B Testing

A/B testing is a powerful way to drive your sales development strategy forward by uncovering the most effective touches. SalesLoft enables you to A/B test variants of a cadence step to see which provides the most effective results.

How A/B Testing Works

A/B testing works by allowing you to add variants to cadence steps. Once a/b variants added to your cadence step(s), prospects will be automatically and randomly added to the cadence. The correct variation will automatically populate when you run your cadence steps.

You'll begin collecting data as soon you begin running your steps. Once you've determined the most effective variant, you can then disable or delete the rest to ensure future prospects added to the cadence only receive the most effective touches.

Adding A/B Variants to a Cadence Step

Step 1: Navigate to the "Cadences" tab and click the cadence you wish to add a/b testing to.

Step 2: Find the step you want to add a/b testing to, then click "Add Variant."

Step 3: Create the new variation of your email, phone or other step and select "Save Step."

Step 4: Make sure to toggle the switch so that both variants are active.

Note: If you want to test a variation of a saved email template, first copy and edit your copied version of that template under the Templates tab, saving your new variation as a new email template.

Comparing A/B Variants on Effectiveness

Comparing your metrics on A/B tests is easy. Just head back to the cadence you created the a/b testing on and compare the metrics on the step.

Enabling/Disabling A/B Variants

Step 1: Navigate to the "Cadences" tab and click the cadence on which you wish to disable/enable a/b variants.

Step 2: Toggle the "on/off" switch next to the variant step to enable/disable it. If the switch is blue, the step is enabled. If the switch is grey, the step is disabled.

Note: A/B variant steps are automatically set to enabled when created.

Note: Disabling a variant that has people active on it will cause those people to be skipped to the next step.

Deleting an A/B Variant

Step 2: Open the gear menu on the righthand side of the variant step and select "delete step." This will only delete this particular variant, not the entire step.

Note: Deleting a variant that has people active on it will cause those people to be skipped to the next step.
