SalesLoft Chrome Extension Updates
Like any application, the SalesLoft Chrome Extension will occasionally need to be updated. Updates allow for new functionality, bug fixes, and app maintenance.
The extension will be only updated when the following conditions are met:
- All Gmail tabs are closed or Gmail is opened in the Inbox view with the scroll position at the top of the page.
- All Salesforce tabs are closed.
The extension will not be updated if:
- A SalesLoft user is composing an email.
- Any email is opened.
- The user is in the Inbox view, but not on the first page or the page was scrolled down.
- The user is in anything other than the Inbox folder view.
- The "Reminders" tab is opened.
- The extension side panel is opened.
- Any Salesforce tab is opened.
When an update is available, SalesLoft will check if the extension can be updated. In the case it cannot be updated during the working day, the update will be forced between 11 pm and 5 am in users' local time zones.
For those instances when the extension is not updated automatically, you will be able to update the extension manually. To perform a manual Chrome extension update, follow these steps:
- In the upper right corner of your Chrome browser, you will see a dot indication next to the SalesLoft icon in the Chrome extension bar.
- Click the SalesLoft icon. This will open a banner with the option to update the extension.
- Click Update Now.
- Once you select the option to update the extension, all opened Gmail and Salesforce tabs will be reloaded and the extension will update to the latest version.
Manage Push Notifications
SalesLoft's Chrome Extension uses push notifications to inform you about email opens, clicks, replies, or failed sends. In other words, all of the data that appears in your Live Feed pops up as a notification. These notifications let you take immediate actions that can positively impact your sales.
However, we recognize that there are two types of people in the world: those who love notifications and those who hate them. If you fall in the latter category, you can enable specific notifications or silence them all. For example, if you only wanted to know when a link within an email has been clicked, you can fix your push notifications to just show email clicks.
To manage your push notifications through the Chrome extension, follow these steps:
- From your Chrome browser, select the SalesLoft Chrome Extension (SalesLoft logo) to the right of the URL bar. The Chrome extension menu will appear.
- Under Show Me Notifications For you will see the following:
- Email Opens
- Email Clicks
- Email Failures
- Email Replies
- Reminders
- Hot Leads
- Select the checkbox for the notifications you would like to see.
Enable Notifications in Google Chrome for Windows 10
Windows 10 may require additional steps to enable the Chrome notifications to appear from your browser. If you have downloaded the Chrome extension and set your notifications, but still aren't receiving notifications, follow these steps:
- From your Windows Desktop, click on the Windows button in the bottom left corner.
- Click the Settings (gear shift) icon.
- Select the System icon in the Settings screen.
- Choose Notifications & Actions from the left side menu.
- Scroll down to Get notifications from these senders and find the Google Chrome icon.
- Toggle the Google Chrome button on to enable notifications.
Mute Email Threads
SalesLoft gives you the ability to mute notifications for specific email threads. Muting the notification will turn off future notifications for that specific email thread, meaning you will not see a popup for the engagement with that email.
When an incoming email notification appears on the screen, click More and select the Mute option in the menu.
Notifications for Reminders
The SalesLoft Chrome Extension takes reminders beyond the SalesLoft platform. You can receive reminder popup notifications in your Chrome window by enabling reminder notifications through the Chrome extension.
Chrome notifications will pop up at the time the reminder is due. The notification will stay on the screen until you click Close. Select the More button in the notification to mark the reminder as complete or navigate to the Person Profile page (where you can edit the reminder if you need to).
The SalesLoft Chrome Extension and Your Gmail
Gmail users gain access to SalesLoft features after the Chrome extension is installed. These include:

Reboot the SalesLoft Chrome Extension
Sometimes networks can get out of sync and need a quick jolt to get them back on the right track. If your extension is lagging and needs a reboot, you can disable and re-enable the extension.
To reboot the extension, follow these steps:
1. Access the Extension Manager by right-clicking on the SalesLoft icon in the Extensions bar and select Manage Extensions.
2. The Extensions Manager will open in another tab. From that page, you can toggle the slider on and off to disable and re-enable the extension.
3. Once the extension has been rebooted, you will need to reload any Gmail, Salesforce, or SalesLoft tabs that you have open.
Uninstall the SalesLoft Chrome Extension
The reinstall method will clear out any saved data by the extension. This may be necessary in some cases.
To uninstall the extension, follow these steps:
1. Access the Extension Manager by right-clicking on the SalesLoft icon in the Extensions bar and select Remove from Chrome.
2. A popup will appear to confirm removing the extension.
To reinstall the extension, you can click this link here or go to the Downloads tab in your SalesLoft Settings and click Install Chrome Extension.
SalesLoft Chrome Extension Troubleshooting
Are you experiencing problems with your extension or any of the Connect features? Here are some common troubleshooting techniques to help get you sorted out:
- Make Sure You Have the Latest Version of Chrome: We are constantly updating our extension to remain in compliance with Google’s most recent updates. If you have an outdated version of Chrome, the extension may no longer comply with that edition.
- Verify You Have Installed the SalesLoft Chrome Extension: Take a look at your listed Chrome Extensions in the upper right corner of your Chrome window. If you do not see the SalesLoft icon, the extension is not active or has not been installed. Reinstall the extension.
- Check Your SalesLoft Login: The extension works hand-in-hand with the SalesLoft platform. If you have logged out of SalesLoft, the extension will not work.
- Confirm SalesLoft Is Linked to the Correct Email Account: The Chrome extension links to the email address that is connected to your SalesLoft account. Make sure you are logged into that email address and not a different, personal email account. If you are logged in with an alternative email address, log out of that account, log in to the account that is linked to SalesLoft, and refresh your browser.
- Clear Your Cache: Clearing your cache is a way to refresh your browser.
- Disable Other Extensions: Other Chrome extensions may be impeding SalesLoft’s functionality. From your Chrome extension menu, disable or remove other extensions that may block SalesLoft’s access.
If you are still experiencing issues with the extension beyond the questions listed, please contact our technical support team.
