Your CRM is most likely your primary hub for customer management needs. But managing the data and logging actions in your CRM can quickly because a daunting task (pun intended).
Microsoft Dynamics 365 users can breathe a sigh of relief by connecting your CRM to SalesLoft. With SalesLoft's Dynamics integration, you can log activities and share data records between your sales engagement platform and your CRM.
Things to Note: SalesLoft only integrates with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
In this article, you will learn about the features available in SalesLoft for Dynamics users, including:
- Connect to Your Dynamics Account
- Imports from Dynamics
- View in Microsoft Dynamics
- Dynamics Activity Logging
Connect to Your Dynamics Account
Before you can take advantage of SalesLoft's Dynamics integration, you must connect your Dynamics account to your SalesLoft account.
This is required in order for activities you log in SalesLoft to sync to Dynamics as completed Tasks records as well as any syncing of information for Leads, Contacts and Accounts.
To Connect your SalesLoft Account to your Dynamics Account, follow these steps:
- Click the dropdown menu under your name and select Settings. Then select CRM
Click Connect. This will direct you to your Microsoft login page. Log in using your personal Dynamics login to connect your SalesLoft account to your Dynamics account. - Login to your Microsoft Dynamics Account.
- Things to Note: For team admins, make sure that whatever account you login with is the same as the Dynamics Instance you gathered the four credentials.
- Enter your Microsoft Dynamics Login Password.
- Once you are connected, you will see the email address you are connected to on your CRM Settings page.
- Things to Note: If you do not get redirected and instead get a Microsoft Error Page, this means either the 4 credentials you inputted under the CRM Sync Settings Tab were incorrect or the personal Microsoft Login you used is not a part of the same Dynamics Instance. Please check with a team administrator and try again.
Imports from Dynamics
In order to import Leads or Contacts from Dynamics into SalesLoft, you will need to export the records from Dynamics and then import them into SalesLoft in a CSV file. Follow these steps:
- Go to your Lead or Contact list in Dynamics.
- In the upper right corner, click the three vertical dots to open the dropdown options menu.
- Select Export to Excel. The file will download. Click the file to open it in Excel.
- From Excel, save the file as a CSV.
- Now, open SalesLoft and follow the steps listed to Create People from a CSV.
View in Microsoft Dynamics
When People are imported into SalesLoft using the same email address that is found in their Dynamics record, the two records link together. The same happens for Accounts based on their web domain.
When this linking occurs, activities can be logged to the record and fields can be updated (based on your field configuration settings).
You can also open a Person’s Lead or Contact record in Dynamics from their SalesLoft Person Profile Page. In the Person Information Panel, you will see different icons. These icons are actually links to connected integrations.
If you go to a Person’s Profile Page or an Account Profile Page and see the Dynamics icon below the Person/Account Information (aka their name), click the Dynamics icon to open the record in Dynamics in another window.
Dynamics Activity Logging
Once your SalesLoft is connected to your Dynamics account, your completed activities will be logged in Dynamics. This means that each time you send an email (or Loft it) or log a phone call with the Dialer, that completed activity will be recorded within the Dynamic’s record’s activity history.
Things to Note: Activity logging depends on their activity logging setting. This means, if the checkbox is disabled, the activity will not log. If you run into an issue with activity logging, verify with a team admin that the activity logging settings are enabled.
All activity will be logged on the Lead or Contact level. If a Contact is associated with a Dynamic’s Account, the activity will log under the Account’s activity history as well.
Each activity type will log the same standard information by default. To include further activity data and information, ask your SalesLoft admin about mapping activity information from the Salesforce Field Configuration.
Worried that an activity didn’t log? Check your CRM notifications lightning bolt for failed activities.
Here are some examples of logs you may see in Dynamics:
Dynamics Email Log
After an email is sent from SalesLoft or sent from Gmail or Outlook using the Loft It button, the log will appear under the activity history of the Lead or Contact and the Account.
Email logs will be recorded with the subject line "Email: (Subject line of the email)."
When you enter the activity details, you will find the body of your email message in the Comments. Other activity-related data will be filled out according to your Activity Field Mapping Settings.
Dynamics Call Log
Calls that are logged from the Dialer will appear under the activity history of the Lead or Contact and the Account.
Call logs will be recorded with the subject line "Call: (Call Disposition)|(Call Sentiment)."
When you enter the activity details, you will find any notes that were logged from the call in the Comments. Other activity-related data will be filled out according to your Activity Field Mapping Settings.
Messenger Logs
When a text is sent with SalesLoft Messenger, activity logging happens automatically as messages are sent and received.
A new activity is created when a new message is sent outbound or is received. As you and your prospect continue their conversation, the texts will be added to that activity. If there is a 1-hour break in the conversation, a new message (sent or received) will generate a new activity. These are visible in the activity feed on a Person.
Activities are then synced with CRM activities according to the user's specified field configuration.
